I purchased this almost exactly 3 years ago. I hate it. The suction is mediocre, it is very hard to use on carpet, and the pivoting head is a total pain in the a–!!! I have 2 older cordless models, a Shark and a Eureka Boss Lite. They both are far older but do a far better job and are so much easier to use! I thought ‘new’ would be better, but it is just much more expensive. Forget about this one. It is a total waste of money.

UPDATE: 10/1/2014: Electrolux contacted me as a result of the negative review. The customer service manager was delightful and professional. She said that she wanted me to be happy with my purchase and is in the midst of making good on that. She did inform me that these vacuums are not meant to be used on carpeting and rugs, just bare floors.

UPDATE: 10/13/2014: Electrolux sent replacement vacuum which is a huge improvement over the original model that I purchased and reviewed here. The customer care provided was wonderful and greatly appreciated – and will be remembered when I am on the market for other items that they manufacture. They went ‘above and beyond’ by contacting me and trying to make me a satisfied customer! Quite a testimonial for Electrolux and social media…

I bought this along with the Hoover Linx stick to compare. Between the two, they both have their advantages and disadvantages, but as an overall stick vac, the Linx probably wins out.

—————————————————————-

Ergorapido Ion

PROS

+Ultra! maneuverable on hardwood floors (A dream on hardwood floors)

+Lightweight

+Headlight on vacuum head

+2-in-1 stick and hand vac design

+Decent suction

+Appearance

CONS

-Really! poor maneuverability on carpet floors (Almost immovable on thicker carpets)

-Unreplacable battery (Only a 2 year warranty and no plans for replacement)

-Doesn’t stand up on it’s own

-Can’t turn off brush mode

—————————————————————-

Hoover Linx

PROS

+Better suction

+Interchangable/Replaceable Battery

+Can switch brush mode on or off

+Good on hardwood floors AND carpets

+Able to stand up on it’s own

CONS

-Less maneuverable/Clunkier (tires my hand out more than Ergorapido)

-A little bit heavier

-No 2-in-1 hand vac

-No vacuum headlight

So each vacuum has it’s advantages and disadvantages. If I had just hardwood floors, the Ergorapido would win out. That’s where it shines bright. It’s a joy to use on hardwood floors. It’s almost swiffer-like in maneuverability only glides easier. The headlight feature on the Ergorapido is also a big plus. It let me spot out dust that I normally wouldn’t have seen with the Linx. But with the Hoover Linx, I can go on both carpet and hardwood and expect decent performance and use overall. It’s not as fun or easy, especially on hardwood floors, but it at least can do carpets all right. Emptying the bins out were an equally matched task, I felt. The same goes for battery charge time and use. Removing the brushroll on the Linx is a pain as you have to unscrew 7 screws whereas on the Ergorapido, you just have to flip a switch to open it up. The filter on the Ergorapido may be better, it’s a cloth covered cone. Whenever I take it out and blow on it, there’s always the finer dust flying off of it. And on the Linx, it’s like this spongy cylinder, sort of like the type of material you’d find in cheap chair stuffing. It takes a few more vaccums for me to see the finer dust fly off, and it does need to be cleaned or performance will be affected. I do like the Ergorapido and liked the idea of having an integrated hand vac. I would’ve given it 4 stars but because of it’s lack of maneuverability on carpets, I knocked a star off. That’s a pretty important quality, I think. The only other thing that really annoyed me about the Ergorapido was it’s inability to stand up on it’s own. In the end, if I only had to keep one, it’d be the Linx. But I would miss having the Ergorapido.

We ordered this vacuum back in 2013 and used frequently for about 5 years. It was really great, good suction, not too loud, recharged within reason – until it didn’t. Battery life fell of precipitously at one point, holding a charge for only about 90 seconds. I like the unit so much I still have in my small office for a quick vacuum when needed.

We ended up buying a different brand with more suction and better maneuverability, though not without its own issues. For the price, this unit did the trick.

So you’re in the zone, reading review after review about all the features of stick vacs. Some are cordless, some are cheaper, some are 2 in 1. I was you. Maybe not in that same awkward seating position you’re currently in, but close. In the not so distant past, I owned a regular upright cyclonic type Hoover vac, and that was simply too much for my hard floors. Too heavy, too cumbersome, too uh… much, is the word. My place has all wooden floors and brooms only do so much, so I thought to get a lightweight “stick” vac. There are plenty of choices here, but I was going to either go really cheap or get quality. Nothing in between. That being said, the really cheap ones were either corded or old technology rechargeable. I quickly decided against a corded vacuum because the inconvenience would talk me out of cleaning too often. When I finally decided on a quality rechargeable, I did read a lot of reviews. This one didn’t seem to come up right away, but when I found it, I was intrigued by the reviews and features. The lithium ion battery feature helped close the deal. Then Amazon hit me with a Lightning Deal, which if you’re lucky enough to get, brings it down to $149. It had that count-down timer that gives it all a sense of urgency, but I bit the bait, and glad I did. This thing is actually FUN! How can dust sucking be fun? Well, it just is. It has these cool (4) LED headlights, it swivels when you twist to change directions quickly, and really does a great job. It doesn’t have the suction of the big boys, but it’s still pretty darn good. It has just enough to do the job. The spinning sweeper bar does its job and the vacuum does the rest.

On first test, I only wanted to clean my bedroom floor, but I also entered the closet, zipped down the hallway, then did the dining and living rooms as well.

Pulling the hand unit out is like removing the spaceship’s lunar lander. It’s very cool. Snapping it back in is, well, a snap! So, get rid of your old Dust Buster, and put the big vacuum in the garage and get this!

I am usually one to pay a little extra for something that will last. To me, it’s a better user experience to have something built well, and in the long run, it’s often a better investment. I simply love this little thing, and even at $179, this is a bargain.
