No HULU. If you want a Smart TV, this is not the one.

Just arrived today; set it up, signed into wi-fi, etc. Hulu is NOT pre-loaded so went to apps settings. Hulu is not available. Called customer service – HULU IS NOT COMPATIBLE. WITH. THIS. MODEL. What?!?! Sooo, this is an elementary-school smart TV. NOT college or even high-school smart TV. I didn’t know there were levels; either it is or it is not Smart. The TV comes with 15 apps pre-loaded; additional 46 apps are available for download (some free(?)), some free-Trial, most paid subscription. A small enough catalogue they could list them all in the description – but they don’t. Picture and sound are average; remote has lots of buttons; more than my other TV’s. Kinda like that. Just wanted a smaller-than-me (less than 50 inches) Smart TV for this space.

option 1 – return this TV and buy a bigger one

option 2 – purchase ADDITIONAL component (firestick, roku, etc)

option 3 – We CAN cast our phone (which DOES have Hulu) to play over the TV.

This review is written 2 hours after opening the box.

Size, weight, picture quality all good, sound ok for price. Amazon referred me to a samsung expert who was very difficult to understand even after repeating words or phrases more than once; eg..until I checked every label on the remote I had no idea he was referring to “setting.” He did get annoyed after my constant asking him to repeat a direction. He then would repeat but he would give me 3 or 4 directions, one after the other which made it even more frustrating for me to follow and frustrating for him having to repeat so many times. He did insinuate my inability to follow his directions was my problem not his. Disappointed that no printed manual comes with set even though some form of e manual is available on screen. Still cannot access basic channels Verizon said are available as before from the same cable box hooked up to set HDMI. Samsung agent could not help me with that problem. After his frustration and mine, we were disconnected. I experimented with the remote and realized many things I could access from the remote and still more that I could not access. Think I will really enjoy the TV if I can find some help online, from friends or acquaintances more technically savvy than I, or hopefully from some samsung webpage. Also not sure what free choices I have and which require membership with fees (or are there apps that require membership but no fees. I admit, I am not smart enough to meet the challenge of my new TV.

How is it that in 2021, Samsung – who is a leader in technology – sells a tv that has no bluetooth? The picture is great, the sound is great, but the lack of bluetooth makes this a huge fail.

Good looking, average picture, average sound, nothing really special other than it does not allow you to download hulu.. not sure why, probably set for another country .. so, yeah.. im still looking for a way to get hulu and other apps.

Update: also not compatible with macbook air M1 screen sharing.. !

I’ve had great luck with Samsung phones, so I decided to try a Samsung TV. It was easy to set up. The picture quality is great and I’m glad I went with this tv instead of a cheaper, lesser known, brand. It’s the perfect size(40 inch screen) for the small house I live in(not too big, not too small).

Incomplete, no manual. Broken, busted screen.

It was a gift for my daughter. Too disappointed to even write more about this right now.

First thing I noticed upon turning it on was a dark area in the lower right corner.

I was actually going to live with it because I didn’t want to deal with returning it.

Then I noticed the screen going dark. I’d adjust the brightness and it would just go dark again.

Not going to live with that. Returning.

I don’t know what people are talking about. You can load Hulu on this TV from the google app store. It works fine.

This is for our basement room, so 40″ is plenty big enough. Using it with a new Roku+ streaming stick. Just what we needed
