Hi, I just installed the tv above my fire place, but I do not have a way to fully hide the cords., so the tv isn’t fully flushed against the wall. Is that okay?

Asked by: mclancy

To mount the LG G1 65 inch Class with Gallery Design 4K Smart OLED TV w/AI ThinQ® (64.5” Diag), Model # OLED65G1PUA flush against a wall, you would have had to use the included wall mount with a recessed box. However, depending on your installation environment, there may be a slight gap between the TV and the wall, and part of the power cord or cable may still be visible after installation. The anchors supplied may not be appropriate for all situations. Installation into a stud is recommended. You can watch the installation video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFLVrttd1dY to see how to mount the TV flush on a wall. There is another video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI3Q4BNIJvM that you can watch to see how to mount the TV flush on a wall and how to mount it so the power cord and cables are not visible. As for the TV not being flush on your wall, that is to be expected if you do not use a recessed box with the supplied wallmount or you use another VESA compliant Wall Mount to mount the TV…^Ivan

Can anyone tell the distance from the bottom (or top) of the TV to the center of the included mounting bracket. I’m building a house with a stone fireplace and I want to place a 2×6 at the proper mounting height before the stone is placed.

Asked by: BuzzHazz

The slim wall mount bracket that is included with the LG G1 55 inch Class with Gallery Design 4K Smart OLED evo TV w/AI ThinQ® (54.6” Diag), Model # OLED55G1PUA can be mounted flush using a recessed TV wall box. Installation into a stud is recommended. Please note that the anchors supplied may not be appropriate for all situations. Read all instructions and consult with a professional, if necessary, prior to starting installation. The TV comes with a paper template and TV placement measurements. You will need to take proper measurements prior to installation, find and mark studs on your wall, and measure the height of the bottom of the screen (measure accordingly for your desired viewing height). Your TV mounting height will vary depending on your home environment. You will then need to draw a straight line to mark the top of the TV then add the paper template. You also have to note that the TV will shift down once it is fixed to the bracket. Please visit our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6JbADwl0EM to follow the instructions for installing the recessed box depending on whether the recessed box you use has flanges or not. The wall mount holes for the flush mount are 133 mm (5.236") from the top of the TV and 523 mm (20.591") to the right or left side of the TV…^IFV

Why does the OLED77G1PUA not support the HDCP 2.3 copyright protection protocol needed for video and audio reproduction? This OLED is your most advanced and the HDCP 2.3 version became available in 2018! Will there be a hardware update or upgrade?

Asked by: E Grz

Both HDCP 2.2 and the latest version HDCP 2.3 are encryption technologies that are designed to prevent illegal copying of 4K Ultra HD content as it’s transmitted via HDMI. Since HDMI 2.1 greatly expanded the data transfer bandwidth so HDCP 2.3, an improved and more sophisticated copy protection version was needed to go along with HDMI 2.1 and the eARC function, so just a few months after HDMI 2.1 was released, HDCP 2.3 was released in February 2018. However, there is nothing to worry about for at least the next 5 years regarding HDCP 2.3. All the devices within your home theater setup make up your AV chain. Within that AV chain, there are three components, Source, Repeater and Sink. Your source is the source of your entertainment (i.e. your gaming console, streaming device or Blu-ray Player, etc.,) The repeater is what accepts the signal, enhances the video or the audio a little bit, or processes it, (i.e. your AV receiver or Soundbar) then pushes it out again to the sink which renders the signal for display so it can be viewed (i.e. your TV, monitor or projector) so in order to watch content that is protected by HDCP 2.3, your source, repeater, and sink all need to be HDCP 2.3 compliant. But currently, newly released 4K Blu-ray discs, content from streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prime Video, Xbox series X, PS5 video games or anything is currently encrypted with HDCP 2.3. Even the shortlist of video games that will run at 4K @ 120FPS for the nextgen gaming consoles like the Xbox Series X and the PS5 are being encrypted with HDCP 2.3. HDCP 2.2 compliant devices will still run 4K Blu-ray discs and netxgen video games for many years to come. To truly experience nextgen gaming running at 4K 120FPS, your devices and cables need to be HDMI 2.1 compliant. When a new technology like HDCP 2.3 or previous versions of HDCP comes out, it is released way in advance to give manufacturers time to catch up and implement those new protocols in their products when appropriate. As you noted, all of the HDMI ports on the LG G1 77 inch Class with Gallery Design 4K Smart OLED evo TV w/AI ThinQ® (76.7” Diag), Model # OLED77G1PUA are HDCP 2.2 compliant, but they are all HDMI 2.1 ports as well. So even if the HDMI ports are not HDCP 2.3 compliant, you could run into an issue of HDCP 2.3 compliance if all the distributors decide to encrypt all their 4K Blu-rays with HDCP 2.3, but even then, that is unlikely to happen with 4K titles and that only 8K titles will be encrypted with HDCP 2.3. Right now, nothing in Hollywood is being shot on 8K cameras and current 8K Tvs upscale content to 8K…^IFV
